My late father's relatives also moved from Klodawa to Britain just before the 1st world war. Their last name Cieplinski got anglizised to Chaplin. Maybe some of those might be known to you my first name "Menashe" was common in the family I know of a cousin who was also Menashe but in England called himself "Monty Chaplin". Menashe. Additional email from Menashe Cieplinski 9/3/08: The 2 brothers [Cieplinsk] that survived the war were Shmuel that spent the war in Russia and then immigrated to Israel in 1955, and Moishe, my father who came to Mexico. Both died in 1993. Per Email from Larry Pizer great-grandson of Chaya-Brana Cieplinski, 9/3/08: A Male Cieplinski had three children, the oldest of whom was Chaya Brayna, who married Michul Przedecki who had Shmuel, who had Jack, who had Steve and me. The second child of the Male Cieplinski was the father of Moishe Cieplinski, who immigrated from Poland to Mexico City (and whom both Dad and Mom and later I visited). Moishe was the father of William of Middletown, NY, and Menashe, who moved to Halifax, NS, and might still be there. [see "Family History" page on this site, under Michuel Przedecki, son of Mordcha and Rivka Przedecki] Per Email from Bill Cieplinski 9/17/08: Of the Cieplinskis in Klodawa, my father [Moshe] had one brother and
several sisters; the sisters were married and had families and they all
perished in the Holocaust together with my grandparents. The only one that
survived (aside from my father Moshe ) was his younger brother Shmuel who
spent the war in Russia; after the war he and his wife went back to Poland
and in 1956 when they allowed Jews to leave they went to Israel with my
father's help. They had two children, Hanna ( named after our grandmother )
and Arie, Hanna has three daughters and I am in close touch with her and
Arie. We saw them earlier this year on a trip to Israel. Arie changed his
name from Cieplinski to Tzapir. My wife, my daughter and myself were in
Poland 2 years ago; we tried to visit Klodawa; the area near the train
station was desolate and it was a very ugly rainy day and we did not see
people we could talk to. I felt that the whole trip to Poland was an
exercise in visiting with ghosts.. I hope this information is useful and
feel free to get in touch to continue the dialogue. Additional email from Bill Cieplinski, 10/12/08: Pola Cieplinski was my uncle Shmuel's wife and she survived him for almost 15 years and just died last year. I do have pictures from Poland many of which I do not know who they are. I think that some of them are from my father's sisters and their families, none of whom survived. I have photos of my uncle Shmuel and his wife taken on trips to Israel and in the USA. My mother was a Bierzwinski and she had 5 brothers all of whom left Poland prior to the war. The eldest lived all his life in the USA his name was Shmuel as well. The others lived in Mexico and have all passed away but left families. My Bierzwinski grandparents, Avraham Meir and Toibe Rivke also came to Mexico and they passed away in 1952 and 1958 respectively. PHOTOS SUBMITTED BY BILL AND MENASHE CIEPLINSKI 11/23/08, MEETING IN BROOKLINE, MA.. THANK YOU BOTH SO MUCH!
